The meat quality was great; the smoky flavors of the chicken, ribs and beef briskets were good. Both the pork as well as coleslaw was a little disappointing. I loved the walk up cafeteria-style service, which was quick and efficient. Although the inside had a great warm feeling, I did not like the outhouse style bathrooms.
DART
Dave and Art team up every Saturday to go to a new restaurant and rate it based on food quality, service, and ambiance.
The rating scale is a 5-point system as follows:
1- Absolutely awful (My dog wouldn’t sniff it)
1.5- Just bad (Gag reflex)
2- Poor (But was able to swallow)
2.5- Below average (Left unsatisfied)
3- Average (We may come back, maybe)
3.5- Above average (Will go back if in the area and hungry)
4- Good (Straight up nothing to complain about)
4.5- Very good (Delicious, finger lickin’ good is how we describe this category)
5- Like a circus in your mouth (I could eat it everyday and that’s what heaven
is supposed to be like)
Dave and Art rate each category individually and then combine scores to create the overall rating.

Dave's Dissection
Meal: Meat sampler with a side of potato salad, lemon cake for desert
When I walked in I left 2011 and walked into an episode of the Andy Griffith Show, I think aunt B helped me at the cash register. All four meats had a distinct, sharp smokey taste that I will go back for in the near future. I couldn't get enough of the bbq sauce, I actually licked my fingers numerous times (its what a man does). The Potato salad wasn't worth mentioning. The lemon cake was good but definitely over hyped by the good ol' boy who claimed to be Mr. desert. The service was the x-factor for me. After talking to the lady at the register for 2 mins I wanted to go to her house for milk and cookies and listen to her tell me stories of the great depression. Joe's had an old, small town country feel that strongly enhanced the experience.
